Sabancı Central Mosque: A Modern Architectural Icon of Adana
Rising on the banks of the Seyhan River, the Sabancı Central Mosque is one of the largest mosques in Türkiye and a magnificent structure defining Adana's modern skyline. Completed in 1998, the mosque offers a perfect synthesis of classical Ottoman architecture and contemporary engineering techniques.
Each of its six minarets, reaching towards the sky, is 99 meters high and visible from every point of the city. Its main dome, with a diameter of 32 meters, creates an extraordinary atmosphere of spaciousness and tranquility in the interior. With an area of 28,500 square meters, the mosque can accommodate 28,000 people at the same time and is not only a place of worship but also an architectural masterpiece that Adana is proud of.
The interior, adorned with marble decorations, examples of calligraphy, and elegant tile work, reflects a modern interpretation of traditional Islamic art. Especially its reflection on the Seyhan waters at night with its lighting, creates one of the most photographed views of Adana. History and Architectural Features:
Construction of the Sabancı Central Mosque began in 1998 and was completed in the same year. The mosque was built on an area previously used as an Armenian cemetery. This modern structure, rising on this historical site, is located in a place that bears traces of different periods. The architectural design was inspired by the Sultanahmet and Selimiye mosques in Istanbul, but an original work was created with contemporary materials and techniques. The construction of the mosque was financed by the Sabancı Foundation and gifted to Adana.
This photo collection presents the architectural grandeur and details of the Sabancı Central Mosque from different perspectives. The building, with its six minarets, which dominate the Adana skyline, is documented through the lens in its atmosphere at different times of the day, its rich interior design, and its integration with the Seyhan view.

about me

I am Aysegul Aytoren

I live in Antalya, one of Turkey's most beautiful cities. I'm also an avid cyclist. I discovered photography during my bike tours. I've been interested in it since childhood, and I was delighted with the advent of camera phones, but after a while, phones became insufficient, and I discovered the camera. I love photographing Antalya's nature, old houses, historical buildings, streets, and anything that has been left behind. I'd like to immortalize buildings that will likely be demolished in a few years. Past lives and experiences are my greatest passion. I'm grateful to Antalya, and of course, to my bike, for introducing me to photography.

I hope you enjoy my page and the photos I take. I'd love to embark on a journey of historical and natural beauty together.
